How to Claim Property
Claiming your unclaimed property is a straightforward process designed to verify your identity and safely return your funds. There is never a fee to claim your property through this official website.
Follow the steps below to successfully submit your claim to the Department of Treasury.
Step 1: Search and Select Properties
Use our free search tool to find property in your name or the name of a business you represent. Once you find a matching property, click "Claim" to add it to your claim cart. You can claim multiple properties at once.
Step 2: Enter Claimant Information
After reviewing your claim cart, proceed to checkout. You will be asked to enter your current contact information, including your address, phone number, and Social Security Number or Tax ID for verification purposes.
Step 3: Provide Required Documentation
Depending on the type of claim, you may be required to provide documentation proving your identity and your relationship to the property. Common documents include:
- Copy of your Driver's License or state-issued ID
- Proof of Social Security Number (e.g., W-2 form, SSN card)
- Proof of connection to the reporting address (e.g., old utility bill)
You can easily upload these documents through our secure portal.
Step 4: Review and Wait for Processing
Once submitted, our analysts will review your claim. Claims are typically processed within 60 to 90 days of receiving all required documentation. You can track your claim status at any time using your Claim ID.
